Blog Journal #1
Hi! My name is Victoria Mallet. I was born and raised in Miami, FL, and although I miss the hustle and bustle of city life, I am grateful to be in Tallahassee, FL working on my BA in Music and minor in Education at Florida State University. I am currently, what some may call, a "super senior" but fingers crossed, I'll be graduating this coming Fall. Some of my favorite things include collecting plants, hiking on scenic trails, and snuggling with my dog, Oliver.
My experiences with technology in an educational setting are pretty basic. I've used Microsoft Word for essays and PowerPoint for presentations throughout the years and I feel proficient in both. In high school, I took a few classes using FLVS (Florida Virtual School) but other than that, I took all of my classes in person. When I was starting out in college, I took a computer competency course and learned a whole lot about Microsoft Office programs. I never did quite get the hang of Excel, though.
Nowadays with everything being remote, I take all of my classes at "Zoom University", so Zoom and Canvas have been my greatest learning networks. I really do take advantage of having loads of information right at my fingertips, so Google has been a great pal of mine when it comes to research and learning. Occasionally, I head to the libraries on campus if I need books as resources. Thankfully, FSU libraries give access to JSTOR, Oxford University Press, and tons of other resources when I am looking for academic journals and articles to fulfill my learning needs.
